Nintendo 3DS gets major price drop, $169 on August 12th
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Hardware, Hot Deals, Nintendo, Nintendo 3DS,
The Nintendo 3DS has not been selling as well as Nintendo had originally hoped, which is a definite change from their previous handheld console releases. It could be that the advertising just can't get across the experience of playing 3D games like holding it in your hands can, but it could very well be attributed to the fact that Nintendo is charging $249 for the console. Well, if it was the price that was holding you back, Nintendo hopes to remove that barrier with a major price cut on the 3DS. On August 12, the price for a new 3DS will go from $249 down to $169. That's a deep price cut, and brings the price much closer in line with the Nintendo DSi. Users who paid $250 will be granted 20 free virtual console games that won't be released to the public--10 NES games and 10 Game Boy Advance titles. That's nice and all, but I'd bet those people aren't thinking that's enough.

Check out this awesome optical illusion from a park in Paris
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Design,
When looking at this patch of lawn head on, it looks like a sphere just sitting in the middle of the plaza at Paris City Hall. But it isn't. Look at it from the side and you realize that it is just heavily designed grass at an angle. This was designed by Francois Abelanet. It covers 1500 square meters and took 90 gardeners five days to put together.

James McAvoy Slams 3D Movies
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Action, Thrillers, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking, Technology,
X-Men: First Class star James McAvoy thinks that 3D movies are a "waste of money."
The actor - who plays Professor X in the movie prequel - believes the technology is simply an excuse to get more money out of the cinema going public for a product that is not significantly better than normal films
"I think it's good thing X-Men is not 3D. In fact, thank God this movie is not in 3D. 3D is just an excuse to charge you an extra 10 bucks at the theater. And then in the end it's not 3D at all, it's just a waste of money. The idea of things coming out of the screen and making you jump out your seat are done very well but I think it's a waste of time and money and I wouldn't pay for a ticket to go to one of those films."
James cites the widely panned Clash of the Titans as an example of how not to do 3D movies, slamming the decision to add in the special effects in just a few weeks after production. "I maintain you can't do a good conversion of a two-hour movie with high quality in a few weeks like they tried to do with Clash of the Titans. I don't mean to throw that movie under the bus because my buddy Sam [Worthington] is in it, but I think everybody realized that this was a point at which people had gone too far."
